Team Shackleton reports back from the 2015 Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce Business to Business Showcase and reveals who was the lucky winner of our Apple Watch Giveaway!
Having gone from strength to strength in the previous two years, the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce has held its annual Business to Business Showcase on Wednesday. Shackleton joined 60+ other local businesses at Caird Hall, in the heart of Dundee, for the opportunity to meet with fellow DACC members and promote what makes Dundee and Angus businesses stand out in Scotland.
Shackleton’s very own Steve, MD of the company, was one of the team members at the Shackleton Stand from 1.00pm, hoping to meet with both members and non-members of the DACC:
“Shackleton Technologies has always been very proud to be a part of the Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce, and the wider business community.
Events like this highlight just how many different industries call Dundee and Angus home. Seeing so many different businesses from the local area showcasing what makes them great proves Dundee & Angus’ standing in the business world is stronger than ever.”
More than ever, the DACC were keen to promote a strong focus upon economic growth, training and the development of skills in the local area. For the first time, the event also opened its doors to non-members – giving the general public a chance to visit the Business to Business Showcase.
As one of the 60+ companies displaying during the showcase, the Shackleton Stand welcomed countless visitors all looking to discuss business practices, ask important questions and to be inspired by those who were displaying. Needless to say Shackleton expects to see many of these visitors showcasing their own business in the future!
By 5.00pm and the end of the Showcase, there were lots of sore feet and hoarse voices amongst the team, but our enthusiasm for the day was higher than ever… thank you if you stopped by the Shackleton Stand to say hello, we loved meeting you all!
Also open to the public and Members of the DACC, the Showcase contained a “Funding your Business For Growth” Seminar, giving both start-up and established businesses the opportunity to share their experiences and hear valuable advice on business funding from a wide range of panellists.
The day ended with the Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting. A key part of the day, we were delighted to hear about the direction the chamber should take into the coming year, as well as the opportunity to help shape how the Chamber is run.
Philip Magson, Business Development Director at Shackleton, saw the potential in having so many local businesses in one place:
“The 2015 Business Showcase was a huge networking opportunity for us – from established technology companies like Shackleton to start up firms and everything in between, being able to meet companies from all over Dundee and Angus was a great chance to build important relationships. Local organisations like ours need to support each other, which allows us to compete with cities across the United Kingdom and the world, not just Dundee and Angus.”
To celebrate the Showcase, and to thank the DACC and its associates for their support, Shackleton held a very special prize draw during the event with the opportunity to win a brand new Apple Watch worth £300!
Over 100 businesses entered the prize draw by leaving their business card at the Shackleton stand.
We were delighted to announce that the lucky winner was Jim Patrick of Avian Communications who was presented with his prize at the end of the day following the AGM Ceremony.
Thank you to everybody who entered, and congratulations again to Jim.
